A18 - Getting out, Getting to Services and Meeting Others
Heading into retirement doesn't mean you have to give up doing the things you enjoy and disappear off the face of the Earth.
Many retirees marvel at how free they are to do interesting things once they cease working - some profess to feeling busier since retiring than ever before.
There are lots of ways to keep busy, useful and engaged as you get older. Some of them involve learning new technologies, some involve meeting new people and some could increase
your access to services and supports. All of them can be stimulating and interesting, and all of them help you retain your independence and interests. Some options include:
- Joining a group (see B39 Joining Groups)
- Getting online (see B40 Getting Connected on the Internet)
- Getting around (see B7 Help with Transport Costs,
B41 Keeping Mobile without a Car)
- Changing your housing situation (see
